Whenever i open infestation (could happen with other games but i haven't tried it yet) my computer goes really loud and the fans turn really fast then my computer crashes. However this only happens if i plug my hdmi cable into my gpu slot. If i use the motheboard slot it runs without crashing however the fps is awful and makes playing games almost impossible.

Spec list:
Intel i5 3570k
Hitachi 1tb HDD
Gigabyte gtx 650 ti 2gb
Asrock z77 extreme 4 motherboard
8gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz
evo labs 700w psu
windows 7 home premium
cooler master hyper 412s cpu cooler

You may have a defective GPU. Is this a new build or has the issue just recently developed? When you run your display off the motherboard, you are using the integrated GPU on your 3570K, which is nowhere near as powerful as a 650Ti. Use Driversweeper to uninstall all existing Nvidia drivers, then download and install the latest drivers from Nvidia.

Is your GPU sill under warranty? If not, take it out of your system and inspect the cooler, see if it's loose in any way, and clean out any dust and debris that may be stuck in the fins. Also check to see if this happens in other games that are equally demanding. And if you can borrow a known working GPU from a friend, test it in your system to confirm that the issue is only within the GPU.

The gpu isnt under warranty anymore but i have absolutely no problem with buying a new one if thats what it takes. I've already cleaned the pc out as best i can and the cooler seems to be in order. I'll ask a friend to bring by his gpu tomorrow and i'll post results if he can.
