Hi Everyone,

So after some research I finalized a gaming build. But I got a bit disappointed when I read the news that Intel will be refreshing their Haswell lineup in 2014.

Here is my build:-

CPU:-
Intel i7 4770k

GPU:-
Nvidia GTX 760 (Asus)

Case:-
Cooler Master Storm 690 III

Motherborad:-
Asus Z87 Pro

Hard Drive:-
Samsung 840 series 120 GB SSD
Seagate Barracuda 2 TB 7200 rpm

Monitor (undecided):-
Dell S2440L (24 inch VA panel 1920 x 1080)

or
HP Pavilion 27xi or 23fi or 25xi (all IPS panels and all 1920 x 1080)

Power Supply:-
Corsair CMPSU-650TX 650 Watts

RAM:-
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4 GB x 2 = 8gb

Additional:-
Surge Protector
Internal Optical Drive
Maybe a UPS

I want to ask
1. if there should be any addition or subtraction in the build?
2. are all the parts compatible with each other?
3. is the power supply enough to provide power to the build?
4. will it be wise to wait for the upcoming Haswell processors?

My primary use of this pc will be my work, which is not that resource intensive. But I would also like to play latest games on it.
I will be buying parts this month and during the next month. PC will be built in India and parts will be most probably purchased locally.

Solution
1. I would add an after market cooler for your 4770k, sure the stock cooler will work but they are what they are. This CPU is not cheap and putting an economical yet proficient cooler on it will add longevity and piece of mind in the long run.

Enermax ETS-T40-TB CPU Cooler With T.B.SILENCE PWM Twister Bearing Fan Compatible with latest Intel 2011/1366/1155 and AMD FM2/FM1/AM3+

They used this on the $1600 build and reported it did a really good job...$35

2. Yes

3. Yes

4. No

Hi endeavour,

Thank you for answering. I'll give a shot to the suggested cooler.
