Windows Boot Manager Error and now Non-Booting SSDs

Last night my HTPC began giving me a Windows Boot Manager error, code: 0xc00000e9. An unexpected I/O error has occured. I read that it could be the SATA controller so I connected my DVD drive to where the boot drive was and was able to run memtest so I concluded the controller was ok.

My next step was to take another SSD with windows on it that I know works and boot the HTPC with it. I did not get the WBM error, but I got a message saying there was no bootable device and to press enter when there was. So now I thought maybe it was the controller afterall. I disconnect the known working SSD and put it back in the other machine but now that machine is giving me the no bootable device error.

I can read the SSD if I connect it to a computer not as the boot device, so it's not fried, but I'm at a complete loss as to what happened and how to go about fixing it. I have 3 SSDs at this point which all have working copies of Windows on them and all 3 cannot boot anymore.

I don't know about drive specific, but I was having the same issue with my system, although it was intermittent. I reset the CMOS on the motherboard which fixed it, it did it again intermittently about 3 or 4 times in the span of two weeks, I reset the CMOS each time as that seemed to be the only fix.

The last time it happened was about 4 months ago now and it hasn't done it since.

I have NO IDEA why but, that's what fixed my situation.

Edit: You can try doing a windows startup repair off the O/S boot DVD, it's possible the boot sector got mangled a bit while testing.

What really confuses/concerns me is that the known working SSD does not boot anymore after connecting it to the HTPC. I'm worried any more testing I do will just continue to screw up drives.
