I have an external hard drive, that when I try to open now says 'The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable'. I really need to be able to recover all of the data from the hard drive, and can't have any of it be deleted. I have heard of the chkdsk thing but some say it deletes their files, is using the program 'iCare data recovery software' guaranteed not to delete any files?

Is it possible to get the files back without losing any of them? Thanks.

No matter what they say, no application is guaranteed not to make things worse. None of them.
