Hello guys,
I will start off by saying my friend will not be overclocking, so if we can save money by buying non-overclockable parts, that would be awesome.

Here's what we were thinking:
CPU: edit: nevermind, the FX 8320 went back up 30 dollars, maybe we could go the intel route?
Motherboard: ^
RAM: ? 8 GB preferred
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 7200 RPM
PSU: Don't know how much power I would need for this build
Case: Maybe a HAF 912? Carbide 300r? Suggestions please.
GPU: No clue, here is a list of games that I plan on playing mainly:
1. Battlefield 4
2. Minecraft
3. Youtube browsing
4. MMORPGs such as NeverWinter
5. Other Steam games

Thanks for any feedback!

Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2tYsg/by_merchant/
Benchmarks: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2tYsg/benchmarks/

CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor ($149.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($88.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($69.98 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 270X 2GB Video Card ($214.99 @ NCIX US)
Case: Fractal Design Core 3000 USB 3.0 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($54.99 @ Microcenter)
Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($44.61 @ B&H)
Optical Drive: LG GH24NSB0 DVD/CD Writer ($15.99 @ Microcenter)
Total: $699.52

Here's a possible one. But the regardless of the price changes of the 8320, it'll still be cheaper than the i5.

For that budget amd will be better. If not an 8320 then a 6300 or a 6350. Bf4 is more inclined to run amd gpu's, however after the litecoin craze thier prices have significantly jumped.
For a single gpu 450-500watts will work fine for the psu
I just did a build with the haf 912 and I like it. But get the cheapest case that will work and spend more on the parts

if you get FX 8320 you ll need more watts of psu and the price will go up . FX 6300 is enough - 6 cores .

Hey guys, thanks for the replies so far, I don't know whether to go with the 90 dollar RAM or the 68 dollar RAM. I think I might go with the FX 8320. I need a 1 TB hard drive so I will be sticking to that. R9 270x seems like a good card for my needs. Do I really need 600 W or can I go with 500W since I don't plan on overclocking?
I'm also thinking of getting the Corsair 300r for 5 dollars more than the 200r

If you don't plan on overclocking, the 500w should be enough I believe. you can get a 600w for some headroom if you want.

when i had picked up the parts (with FX 8320)i saw 404Watts estimated. So i avoided 500W PSU.

With a quality 500w, you should be fine.
