Hello,

I need help deciding between Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 or Gigabyte GA-970 D3SP.

The gigabyte board is cheaper with somewhat of the same capabilities as the Asus board. The Asus board seems to be better quality. However, the reviews I've read, and the recommendations I've received say that this line of Asus mobo is often faulty.

This is my first build, so I do not want to run into any factory hardware problems. Can anyone tell me whether the problems with this Asus board is common? Would it be wiser to play say and choose the Gigabyte mobo?

Thank you,
Guato.

I have only heard of a few cases of faulty ASUS motherboards, less so than gigabyte.
I would recommend the ASUS, if you plan to OC your cpu alot then get the M5A97 R2.0 The LE has a 4 pin cpu power and the non LE has 8.
Also keep in mind it wont be able to support Xfire/SLI.
