Happy New Year to all !

I have been working on my sons new computer build with all new components we got him for xmas and have run into a persistent problem with the PSU unit. It powers up and shuts off in a loop continually which never allow a post sequence to occur.

As part of the trouble shooting we've tried two different motherboards in two different cases with the same outcome. We first tried a Asus H67 B3 motherboard which had the symptoms on and off which does not allow the system to post.

Believing it was potentially the Asus H67 B3 MoBo we decided to upgraded the build to a new Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H (rev 1.1 ) MoBo but we are still getting the same symptoms of on and off not allowing the system to post.

After many reads from the forum which suggested we do the paperclip test which we did and the case fan did work during the test. However the problem persist once the PSU is reinstalled. The PSU powers up momentarily and then shuts off in a constant loop not allowing the system to post at all we did however hear a constant clicking from the unit when this is occurring.

In addition to exclude the video card as the potential problem we removed the Video card and attempted to start the system and we got the same outcome.

Is there any other diagnostic test we could try before looking into a RMA for the unit please let us know we would surly appreciate it.....

Again Thank You and Happy New Year !
