hello i'm wanting to change the color of the text on all my folders and applications on my desktop because its hard to read them with my current background but i don't want to choose a different one can anyone give me a step by step guide?

Solution
a. Right click on an empty space on the desktop and click on Personalize.
b. Click on the Window Color link at the bottom of the window.
c. Click on the Advanced appearance settings link.
d. Select the Item as Desktop.
e. If you want to change the font, then under Font select the one you desire.
f. To change the color of the font, corresponding to the location of Font, you have options to change the size color and characteristics of the font.
g. You can make your desired changes.
h. Click on Apply and OK.
i. Now, check if that made a difference.
Hope this helps.

Right click desktop > personalise > window colour > Advanced appearance settings is where you should be able to change it but you cant. You can select the high contrast white theme which changes it then change some stuff back using the above dialogue but i wouldn't recommend it.

CHANGING YOUR WINDOWS 7 DESKTOP TYPEFACE COLOR FROM THAT UGLY SHADOWED WHITE TO BLACK:

If you go to "background color" and change the background to WHITE, your desktop will now have black lettering. You can later go to "Background" and change your background color to whatever you wish. Hey, trust me, I've been on this for over an hour ----- Hey, have I ever lied to you?
