My fans spin and led's light up and the stop and turn off.

My computer was finally working fine. Then I decided I was gonna put a disk drive in it. I put it in plugged it in and couldn't find the sata cable. So I took it out. I then took it out and put my computer door back on. Then this happened. The fans spin and the led's light up then stop and turn off. I've unplugged all my psu plugs and pluged them back into the motherboard. Still does the same thing... I now have no idea what it could be.

look for a cut wire or screw grounding out the pc. if it shutting down then you have a dead short somewhere.

Is the CPU heat sink fan plugged in to the motherboard?

try re-seating the ram if you have not already....but also check what smorizo stated above.

Now the power button flashes once. Nothing else.

if you moved the heat sink from the cpu the wet thermal paste can do two things...it can fall into the cpu and short it out or it can pull the cpu out of the slot a little bit when you try and break the heat sink off the cpu.

I didn't supply any thermal paste. I haven't moved the heat sink since I put it on.

Are you sure that you put everything back where it supposed to go? did you somehow connect two fans together or put the CPU fan into the wrong header on the motherboard?

Unplug everything apart from your motherboard power connectors (4/8 pin and 20/24 pin) so your psu should be plugged into nothing but you motherboard and gfx card if required use only one single stick of ram remove all usb's only plug you power lead in also if you have the option of on board graphics remove your gfx card if you have one and use on board and see if you computer turns on and report back with result
