Motherboard has:
1 x CPU fan header
3 x system fan headers
Most motherboards have a 4-pin CPU header that is PWN (Pulse-width modulation) controlled.
The system fan headers are 3 pin that run off standard DC voltage (positive, negative, and RPM signal) that can be controlled by the motherboard fan controller software and have RPMs monitored.
You can hook up more fans to a DC line on the power supply. They are not monitored by the motherboard. No need to buy up a lot of PWN fans as usually the CPU fan is the only PWN one.
