Hi I am an amateur pc builder and I just made my first pc with a gtx630. Little did (do) I know the pecking order of graphic cards, so now I want to use a better one due to my gaming needs. Browsing at newegg I am looking at 780s and most of them say they need dx11.1. My Win7 64 ultimate runs on dx11. Can it work? Other specifications that may be needed:
cpu=amd fx(tm)-8350 8c
ram=4x4gb corsair
os=win7 64 ult
mobo=gigabyte 970A-UD3P

EDIT:
high end games I usually play is World In Conflict, Company of Heroes 2, BF3, BFBC2, Fallen Enchantress Legendary Heroes, Borderlands 2, XCOM enemy within. Playing these games on high settings results in a choppy fps, so if anyone has a recommendation on the video cards too I can use that.

Funny you say that, a 3.0 card can go in a 2.0 slot just a marketing gimmick. 3.0 x16 and 2.0 x16 can run at exactly the same speed and doesn't downgrade no performance all basically 3.0 has is updates BIOS settings, that's is. All there comparing is 2.0 x4 to 3.0 x16, which is a massive difference, just 3.0 has a nice new clip at the end and all, basically the same thing and no performance lost. That said dx11 and 11.1 are quite similar so there should be no problem, if it is which it shouldn't you can update it.

That'll work fine and there isn't much difference at all between dx11 and 11.1 so no problem there and cards will still run the same. You are able to update to 11.1 if you need to but you shouldn't.
