Do I have a faulty HDD?

So this is my first build and this is the hard drive I own:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0088PUEPK/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Apparently this device isn't even capable of being recognized on my Asus Z87-A BIOS boot order. However when I click "Sata information" It shows it's there in the sata slot on the motherboard! I've tried every single sata port on my motherboard and it simply cannot be detected. I assumed I had a faulty sata cable, so I bought another one (6gb/s) but that also didn't work! I did a quick test by using that same sata port with the new cable and attached it to my already configured SSD to test if it's still the SATA cable, but it seems that the SSD is recognized even with the new cable and different SATA slot on my motherboard so I doubt it's a faulty cable. It seems almost 100% I have a faulty HDD but I just want to make sure at this point.

Here's a picture of the ports on my HDD:

I have connected the sata data cables and sata power cable but I noticed some pinned slots to the right of them as noted in the picture. Is it because I am supposed to have something plugged in there?

In my BIOS there are two separate places to set boot order. In the boot order you just select "Hard Disk" (or "DVD", etc.) and it will display the highest priority one (by default the lowest SATA port number). But there is another item where you select the boot order of hard disks which changes this priority. It sounds like your BIOS may be doing the same.

There's also an item to override the boot order for this boot and also the boot menu displayed by pressing F8 on boot. Both these show all potential boot devices.
Is the hard disk recognized by Windows Disk Management? Can you partition and format it? If so then it's fine; if not you may have a problem.

Have you tried pressing F8 whilst booting (when the Asus Logo is displayed)? Does it appear in that boot menu?

UPDATE!:

So I played around a little bit more. I disconnected my already configured SSD and found out that the HDD was finally recognized in the boot order! I plugged back in my SSD and guess what! THE SSD WON'T APPEAR IN THE BOOT ORDER?! I had to go to advanced menu---> boot options--> boot override to use my SSD (since that's where my configured OS was in)... Yet again once I finally got on Windows I could only see my SSD and no Hard drive recognized. Btw Jack, I tried what you said and YES, it is recognized in that boot order! Some progress I hope.

How do I find Windows disc management? Sorry I am a complete noob at this.

Edit: Found it, I think I saw a LinusTechTips video on this, hopefully that'll help me

I just find it extremely strange that I can't see BOTH HDD and SSD unless I disconnect one of them on my Asus EZmode Bios menu...

Got the drive finally recognized as my E: on My computer. However it still doesn't show up on Bios Boot order. Bios does recognize it is connected to a Sata port though. How strange.

I mean as long as it works fine it shouldn't really matter if it doesn't show up on the Bios Boot order. Will keep this thread updated if any complications arise...

Thanks a lot for your help Jack!
