so i have two ram slots in my laptop and one of them has a

Hynix DDR3 SDRAM (PC3-12800) Module Part # HMT351S6CFR8C-PB.

I found this with the HWINFO download which helps a lot! anyways here is a link to Amazon http://www.amazon.com/PC3-12800-1600MHz-non-ECC-Unbuffered-HMT351S6CFR8C-PB/dp/B00A8J2OUM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1388652287&sr=8-1&keywords=hmt351s6cfr8c-pb

this should be the same one so i can have two right? I see it says unbuffered so not sure what that really means.... and this is relatively a good stick of ram right?

so yea just wondering mainly about the non-ecc unbuffered and confirming it could be the correct one with anyone who has experience with ram sticks because i have 0 lol just learning what i can where i can.

That's the one!

Buying identical modules is always a good idea.

EDIT: Unbuffered memory is used in desktop PCs and laptops. Buffered/Registered memory is used in high end workstations and servers. Buffered memory has an additional register between the memory IO bus and each memory rank. This reduces the electrical load that each additional module places on the IO bus, increasing signal integrity. This reduces the error rate and allows for more modules to be placed on the bus which allows for a larger memory capacity.

hey thanks for the quick response I see the reviews on this thing it looks pretty solid as a ram stick, probably not the best! but 1600 mhz 4gb stick not bad i think

I would certainly hope that they're solid. Hynix is not a name that one sees around very often but almost everyone on this forum has used Hynix products without realizing it. Hynix is the world's second largest DRAM manufacturer, right behind Samsung. Samsung is their own largest consumer and heavily services the OEM market, which puts Hynix modules in the majority of all aftermarket products including memory modules from Kingston, Corsair, Mushkin, and G.Skill. Hynix also manufactures GDDR5 used in graphics cards
