I recently installed a new graphic card Asus HD7770-1GD5. Before this I used the On Board graphics for a week after I sold off my old 4870.

The computer boots normally, im able to do everything (browse, play high end games etc) however this 3 beep/attempt sequence is occurring for the first time.

My computer guy says its nothing to be concerned about as the BIOS is by passing the onboard graphics to boot with the GPU however i'd like to ask the community.

The essentials of my rig are:
- Intel Core i3 (550) 3.2 GHz
- ASUS HD 7770 1GD5 (1 GB)
- Corsair Value Select 8GB (2GB X 4sticks) 1333 BUS DDR 3
- Intel DH55HC MOBO
- Seagate 500GB HDD
- Cooler Master Xtreme 600w PSU

Solution
if it isn't broken, don't fix it. You can check your motherboard manual to figure out what the beep codes mean. It may be what your computer guy says it is, the POST not detecting a display on the IGP and thus initializing the PCIe adapter as a fallback. If this is the case the IGP can either be disabled, or the PCIe adapter prioritized.

Well even after Prioritizing the PCIe PEG slot it still occurs however you're right if there was an issue the computer wouldn't boot at right? Since the on board DVI port was being used before the GPU was installed the BIOS maybe picking that as the startup reference then reverting to the GPU?

Possibly, but I doubt it. Check your manual :)

This is what the manual says:

Video error (no add-in graphics card installed) - The beep pattern is identical to what I am experiencing. However my video card is detected when it boots and Im using it without any issues =S

Possibly just a firmware issue. See if there is a BIOS update issued on your motherboard manufacturer's website.
