Samsung 840 Pro running as only 3gbps on a 6gbps port.

I have a Samsung 840 Pro, which is connected to a 6gbps port on my Asus P8B75-V (I do believe that this board uses an Intel SATA controller.) In the Intel Rapid Storage Technology control panel, under advanced, it shows the drive having a 3gbps transfer speed (SATA 2), and in my Samsung Magician software, it advises me to connect the drive to a SATA 3 port. I though it already was?

I am puzzled, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks.

Double-check that the port your SSD is connected to is in AHCI mode.
If the SSD is in AHCI mode then benchmark it with ATTO.

SATA 3 (6Gb/s) speeds are from 301MB/s to 600MB/s. If your ATTO results are greater than 300MB/s then you know that your SSD is ok, even though Samsung Magician says otherwise.
