I guess with Z87 you can pretty much expect the same performance with any board from this chipset for games and applications. The Maximus hero is a lttle costly but for a professional grade board it is quite cheap for the for the ROG series boards which have a 5 or 7 year warranty so they expect users to tweak and tune to extreme settings. Asus also has some cheaper boards in the z87 platform but i don't know to much about them as I was only eyeing the...

..If your gong with the 4770 or better yet the 4770k I would get the ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO LGA 1150. If I would have waite a few months to upgrade I would have bought this along with a 4770k. Check it out at ASUS or newegg or wherever and see if this is board for you. It is ROG so you can expect a good overclock.

Asus also has some cheaper boards in the z87 platform but i don't know to much about them as I was only eyeing the Hero. but one of the cheaper ones that has god reviews is the ASUS Z87-A depending on where you live.
