HI, I'm trying to get sound to come out of my speakers for my reciever but have been unable to do it and have read many different articles on this subject.

First off i have dual 660 ti's using nvidia surround with 3 monitors and then i try to hook up my reciever to another connection to be able to relax and watch movies on the tv at night however i can't get the sound to come out of my reciever speakers at all. I get the video to show up through my reciever to my tv but no sound at all. Does anyone know any way to fix this for me.

Solution

It should just be selectable as an input. It might be labeled on input it self, as line in 1 or line in 2?

Okay so i have my computer going to the reciever via hdmi and then the reciever going to the tv via hdmi. Then i have triple monitors hooked up in surround via 2 dvi and 1 display port connection. I also have computer speakers hooked up that work just fine when i have them enabled and using them. I have unplugged them and tried to get sound from reciever didn't work.

In playback devices you should see the TV/Reciever. You should just need to set this as the default playback device.

Very strange..

You could try uninstalling the Nvidia HDMi audio driver from Device Manager, then downloading and installing the latest Geforce drivers?

Alternatively you could put your sound through the AMP using optical audio out if your motherboard has that connection?

I have tried having an optical cord from motherboard to reciever and no sound at all. But i might have wrong setting for that as i don't know which setting exactly it is suppose to be set at for it to play the optical.

the real problem is i had the hdmi coord plug into the same input that plays the optical so the hdmi was overiding the optical so no sound from optical. But stupid that they block me from using one of the hdmi ports in the reciever if i want optical sound. Should have its own input
