Hai,

I want to know whether i5 4570 or FX 6300 or A10-7850K is better in terms of future proofing while keeping MANTLE in mind as an alternative to DirectX.I saw several reviews but could not decide upon any CPU.As AMD is making FX series as EOL so APU is the future hence should I go with the to be released AMD Kaveri APU or continue with FX 6300 or upgrade to i5 4570.I will be using Asus R9 270X 2GB as my GPU.So any suggestions are much awaited.

Yeah, that m5a97 doesn't have DIGI+ VRM controls, that's why you can't overclock it. You would need the EVO version to have VRM settings.

Because Intel master race......

OK, in all seriousness, the i5 performs best out of the 3 of those when looking at single threaded performance. But, the 6300 is no slouch, and can be overclocked easily to 4.0+ ghz. I wouldn't consider the APU since your using a R9-270x. And to throw another option out there, I think the best bang-for-buck cpu out there is the 8320 right now. 8 cores for $159 that can be overclocked past 4ghz; again no slouch. Compared against the i54570, you'd be saving $40. I would not worry so much about AM3+ being EOL if you choose the 8320 option. That cpu would easily last for 5 years with proper GPU upgrades along the way (if overclocked).

Then what MB with more than 6 power phases are to be used in the event of using FX 8320 which will last for 5 years with proper GPU upgrades?I already tested with Asus M5A97 R2.0 which isn't allowing OC and running of Prime95 is not at all possible for even 5 mins.I am looking towards Gigabyte 970 Series MB's which have 8+2 power phases and USB 3.0 front panel header on the MB as well. Please suggest me any good MB with features I specified above.

How many power phases does your MB have? How are you able to OC it and did it pass prime95?

No I dont have any idea of power phase settings in my Asus M5A97 R2.0 Bios.I tried to OC it 4GHz but I could not pass p95.If it is not stable can it run all the games optimally without going into BSOD.Please help me in this regard.

There is no DIGI+ Power settings in Ai Tweaker so how can I OC? Still after following the guide I cannot OC with a stable running of p95.During running of p95 the pc goes into freeze and never recovers. I think I should go with FX 6300 with a 8 power phase MB as this MB or CPU is at fault.Still if I go with i5 4570 would it be more future proofing while using R9 270X?Please help me?

I was in the Bios and I tried to do as you told me by following the OC guide but while running p95 with Core Temp it does not pass even for 2 mins max.I think so its better to go with i5 4570 rather than AMD FX or APU.Thanks for helping me out.I think my MB or CPU are at fault here and nothing can be done in this regard.

What settings are you using, and is your board the LE version of the m5a97?

Its going to be rather expensive to switch everything over to Intel, but the performance will be great. I still think you should try more with your current setup. And what cpu are you working with?

I have Asus M5A97 R2.0 and my CPU is FX 8320 with 3.5GHz as stock speed.I think I will move to i5 3570k with MSI Z77A-G43 Gaming MB + Asus R9 270X 2GB GPU.The MSI R9 270X Gaming GPU is 1k costly than Asus and comparing both I think Asus GPU is best and cooler also.

Thanks again for helping me out.Bye.

Yeah, that m5a97 doesn't have DIGI+ VRM controls, that's why you can't overclock it. You would need the EVO version to have VRM settings.

You will get a big boost from going to the i5, but again that is an expensive venture. Why not buy a 990x or 990fx board which will allow heavy overclocking on the 8350 you already have (which will also save you a lot of money), and then have enough money left over to buy a R9-290? That would be faster than an 3570k w/ a R9-270.
