You can actually put quite a lot of applications on that 120GB drive.
I have a 128GB Kingston. Win 8 Pro, Office 2013, Adobe Lightroom, Corel VideoStudio, PaintShop Pro, etc, etc, etc
Approx 50GB used space. Applications generally don't take all that much room. 1 or 2 GB maybe.
OS and just about ALL my applications on it. Games, movies, etc live elsewhere.
What you want on the HDD is very large things. Games, movies, etc.

But I regularly use BF4 which is 60GB but takes a long time to load on a HDD so would you recommend having it on a SSD or a HDD if I only have one SSD at the moment

I'd recommend you to install/move the BF4 to your SSD. It is of course your own personal preference, but the load times will be muuuch faster, when launching battlefield, loading maps etc.
