HELP! Im really stuck about what to do

Hi, im having a massive problem with which way to go toward upgrading. my specs are:
AMD Phenom II x4 965 @4.1Ghz
R9 280X Direct CU2
8gb ram
600w Psu
Corsair H60 Water cooler
ASUS M5A99X motherboard

at the start i had my cpu set to srtock clocks (3.4) but i was experiencing bottlenecking due to my gpu so i overclocked my cpu after some research on how to stop it, the overclocking worked but 4.1 is my maximum as when i go over i get the blue screen of death. im no expert and dont know what this means so i just took it down to the most stable setting and kept it there (4.1) as i still haver a slight bottleneck i was about to buy the FX-8350 to stop it but i was stopped after finding people saying it was a good upgrade and some saying it wasn't. so i looked for alternatives. i came up with the idea of getting a new cooler (h80i) and psu to stop the BSOD but i wasnt sure if this would be the best option for my gaming performance.

It doesn't have to be that your CPU isn't cool enough, it just may not be able to overclock over 4.1 GHz..

And with that overclock you won't see any bottlenecking with a R9 280x.

I think your build is actually pretty good. Would be just a waste of money if you upgrade to something for just a little increase in performance.

But if you really want, you could get an i5 3570K and experience a nice boost. If you don't want to change the motherboard you can go with FX-8350.

I only recently upgraded my GPU from the 6870, in games like battlefield 4 i do experience frame drops but i'm not sure if that's the game itself as iv heard a lot of people experiencing frame drops. also in assassins creed blackflag i get weird Fps but again it is one of those games. im just confused really, i would of thought that the Fx-8350 woould make a big difference as its 'supposed' to be compared with an intel 3570K.

FX-8350 would make a big difference in games that utilize 6/8 cores of the CPU:

Of course, the 3570k is even better. I don't know your budget, but if you are aiming to the top CPU's you are looking at FX-9590.
