I currently connect my PS4 to my monitor using HDMI and my PC using DVI.
When I want the sound from the PS4 I plug the 3.5mm into the output of the monitor and when using the PC into the back of the PC.
Is there any way so both PS4 and PC can be connected to the speakers at the same time ?

Does your TV have a line level output, like 2 RCA audio out (left/right) that are designed to be a pass through to a stereo receiver or amplifier? If so it might be better to use that. If you are using a headphone jack on the TV then you probably want to set your volume level on the TV to about 60-80% of it's max, and then use the regular volume on the PC to set the sound level coming out of the speakers. If you have the TV set low and then the sound card has to boost it a bunch you get hiss (kind of like if you just turn something up too far).

I don't think I've done it myself since the WinXP days, but back then I thought it was as simple as just plugging it in and using the line in volume bar in the recording options on the sound mixer. I'm not sure how the VIA HD stuff works, I uninstalled most of their software on my home machine because I found it really terrible to use and made my sound card make a click every time a piece of software initialized the audio.

I worked it out but there's like a static noise that I can hear coming from the line in however it stops when I remove the DVI cable from the back of the monitor.
Muting the line in stops the noise
