OK, so a little back story. I purchased this computer from an unknown source, just some guy someone I know knew. The computer was $350 so I though sounds good to me. The computer had Windows 8 and the original problem was that when I shut down the computer, it would turn itself right back on. Only way to shut it down was to hold the power button.

Well that bothered me and the computer was really dirty (seller was a smoker and the computer looked like it hadnt been cleaned in years). I bought a new case, moved the components over, put in new fans, and changed the OS to windows 7.

Now my computer will freeze randomly whilst searching the web or just doing random stuff. And now instead of starting up on its own it just freezes during shutdown.

I have tried all the troubleshooting tips I could find on the internet, flashing bios, driver updates, reinstalling windows 7. No dice.

I changed the computer to the new case before I really ever used it in its old case so not sure if it had these issues before.

I'm starting to think I got sold a lemon and that I might just need to get a new computer :(

I'm not the most computer savvy guy but I have really tried hard to make this work. My friends were even impressed that the computer turned on when I had installed it in the new case (they said that normally with no computer building experience that doesn't happen)

I have a Gigabyte P55A-UD3 motherboard and a GTX460 NVIDIA Galaxy Graphics card.

You can try taking out the CMOS battery in the motherboard, it looks like an oversized watch battery. Leave it out for about 30 seconds then plop it back in. This will completely reset the BIOS.

If that doesn't help, it sounds like it could be a RAM issue, or a failing hard drive.

The beauty with computers is you can't really get a lemon, just slices of a lemon :p lol A new 1TB hard drive or set of 8GB RAM will only set you back about $50-$60 each. Although a lot of people use this as an excuse to upgrade to a nice new computer :)
