I want to get a PNY GTX 770 xlr8 oc enthusiast edition for 370$. Will the Gtx 800 series be released soon and would it be worth it for around the same price point? Should i wait?

More about : buy gtx 770 wait

I dont think the 800 series will be released for a while yet, but its worth bearing in mind that the 770 isnt a new GPU, its essentially a GTX 680 - not a bad thing though, it performs very well for the price

You have to wait until aprill I think. GTX 770 is a decent card, just bought one from Gigabyte.
Best regards

The 770 only came out very recently, the 800 series is likely at least a year away.

Remember the 770 is just a 680 basically, which came out March 2012.

Yeah, ignore me, you're right. Just had a quick Google and the 800 series is due in March, if Wikipedia is to be believed. Sorry @ the original poster.

Yea I'd wait for the 800 series. Rumors are those cards to have 8gb vram in the higher end. I think its worth the wait.

Bf4 as is uses more than 2gb so no 2gb is barely cutting it now.

Running bf4 on ultra uses (depending on resolution) ive seen as high as 2.6gig vram. Specially when 4k gaming starts to become more popular 2gb isnt going to cut it. Besides the 760 and 770 is just at the moment rebadged 600 series stuff. Noone really knows what the 800 series holds for us as consumers but im waiting to see before I buy a new card. I just have not been super impressed with the 700 series.

well i think 8 series ill be something different with next gen but whats the point of having good gpu and games still don't take the power of it , they should be focus on getting things fixed and settled before going any further

If you always wait for the next thing to come out you will always be waiting. The 770 is a good price and a great card. When the 800 series comes out they will likely be more expensive and then you could wait for the price drop and then you could just wait for the 900 series to come out. See my point?

Just grab one and enjoy it, and when you need a little more oomph just grab another 770 and SLI it.

And with the 2GB not being enough bullshit have a look at this. There is almost no difference at all between 2GB and 4GB with even Metro Last Light at 5760x1080 and that HAS to want to use more than 2GB VRAM. Same goes for all the other games. I've seen my GTX 770 hit 2GB VRAM in BF4 and didn't notice any difference.

Just my two cents :)

Im only running Intel HD graphics 4600 lol, thats why I need a new gpu.

hd 4600 in i7 4770K is 2x slower than hd 7750 . So , dont wait too much !

I really think the only reason you should buy the 4gb 770 is if you intend to SLI and do nvidia surround 5760x1080. As already said, the extra vRam is only useful at this very high res.
