hello i am new here but i am currently building a pc and i have all the parts but my CPU and i can't decide. I will mainly be gaming or running simple apps on it. I am plan to overclock no matter which processor i get. I have a thermaltake water 2.0 extreme for cooling with aftermarket fans on the rad and on the intakes and exhaust. When it comes down to it is the 8350 really worth the $80 more. 5Ghz is my goal with the CPU.

Mobo - Asus M5A99FX pro 2.0
PSU - Corsair CX750M
SSD - 120gb Kingston V300
HDD - 1TB Seagate 6gb/s 7400rpm
GPU - Asus R9 270x (will also be overclocked)

Solution
well if your plans are that big the 8350 with the liquid cooling isnt a bad idea. will better handle beefier GPU's needed for 3 monitor setups
If gaming and working on one monitor just go with the 6300. Less power draw. Less heat. Slightly smaller energy bill lol. But really I have my 6300 at 4.6 ghz on hyper 212 evolution. Ur motherboard is better than mine so you should manage even more. My OC has the CPU running like a stock 8320 (according to passmark benchmarks) .

5.0 ghz has been done. But his ambient temps will be very important. If op lives in Canada he could get to that. If he lives somewhere hotter even his liquid cooling won't make the difference. 4.8 is more likely and his CPU silicon quality has a role in it too.

I would eventually like to go to a 3 monitor set up but the r9 270x can't handle that. I will for sure go to 1 27" monitor at 2560x1440. If a overclocked 6300 can handle that without breaking a sweat then i don't see a need for the 8350.
