Is using an aftermarket thermal paste/grease to overclock your GPU worth it?

I have half a tube of Artic Silver 5 thermal paste/grease from my build. I've overclocked my PowerColor Radeon HD 7870 Ghz Edition to 1200Mhz core clock and 1300Mhz memory clock. Would I see a temp decrease if I applied the Artic Sliver 5 to the GPU?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading!

You might. Not all vendors use a decent paste, and may not have used an optimal amount (too much is as bad as too little). Removing the cooler (even if you re-attach it) may void the warranty, so consider that too.
If your GPU is getting too hot, you could always back off on the OC, or see if it remains stable if you lower the voltage.

I get where your coming from. I have two of the same 7870s. I took one out because the top card ran really hot (80+). So I'm thinking that I should put thermal paste on the top card and leave the bottom one the way it is.
