"Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error

CPU: Intel i5 4670k
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H
Graphics card: Gigabyte Gtx 770
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X series 16GB
PSU: EVGA Supernova 650W

I recently completed my first PC build and for the first day or two things were running smoothly. One day however, seemingly overnight, I began receiving the error mentioned in the title within a few minutes of running any graphics intensive applications (e.g. World of Warcraft, 3d-mark, etc). When the error occurs, the display freezes and then stops working entirely; the computer seems to continue running without the display. Sometimes I will have to restart it several times before the display starts working again.

Using EVGA precision X, I've been monitoring the gpu temperatures at the time of the crashes and have never seen the temperature above 50 or so degrees Celsius (with some crashes occurring at temperatures as low as 30 degrees). This makes me think that the GPU isn't overheating, but I'm not the most knowledgeable about this sort of thing so It's a definite possibility I'm wrong.

WhoCrashed is saying it's a TDR error likely caused by "nvlddmkm.sys". As far as I'm aware my drivers are all up to date. Has anyone had any experience with this type of error? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
