Wifi Router and ADSL modem trouble

Hi. I have the following situation: I have a ADSL modem with several LAN ports, the first one has a WIFI router attached to it, the second port is being used to connect a desktop pc using a CAT cable (that has no wifi capabilities). The WiFi router works ok, but the desktop pc cannot connect to the internet, I double checked cables and everything seems ok, I do want to connect this PC using direct cable because I don't want to buy a separate WiFi usb dongle or a card... and the ADSL modem and PC are very close while the WiFi router 10 ft away.

The WiFi router is a D-Link (DIR-600). This one has DHCP activated, I think is possible that a duplicated IP is making the desktop to loose the connection, but that's just my thought.

Thanks!

If your ADSL modem has several LAN ports then it is likely a modem/router (or gateway). What is the model of your ADSL modem?

To use the DIR-600 you need to configure it as an AP and turn off DHCP, assign it a static address in the network range but outside the gateway DHCP range, and make an LAN to LAN connection.

You are correct, your network as currently configured has two DHCP servers, which will not work and will have unstable and somewhat random consequences.

The gateway (sorry, didn't know it was a gateway) is a ADB DRG A115. (at least that what is says on the back).

So I have to disable the DIR-600's DHCP so my ADSL modem assigns the IP to each PC (including the one that's connected directly to the modem) ?
