I noticed that my CPU (i5-3570k) only supports a max memory frequency of 1600Mhz. Right now, I have my memory (8GB, 2 x 4GB) clocked at 1866MHhz. Would I see any performance increase by going down to 1600Mhz?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading!

I can't hear it over anything even with IBT running. Keeps it nice and cool and my motherboard is the bottleneck really, as I am afraid of overheating the north bridge awhile running IBT. Keeps it under 70c awhile gaming at 1.35v @4.45GHZ.

1600 mhz is the frequency at which intel says you "should" run your memory with the processor. However I think you can go higher it's just not officially supported. But mind that the performance difference between 1600 and 1866 mhz is very small.

You would likely see a performance decrease going from 1866 to 1600. With that being said, the performance difference between 1866 and 1600 is hardly noticable. Your current RAM will automatically downclock to 1600, and you will be fine.

You'll see minimal increase in FPS by changing RAM speed. Next to nothing between 1600 & 1866. And I've seen reviews where 5% FPS is gained in some games going from 1600 to 2133.

Want more FPS? Get a second GPU or a faster single card for greatest bang-for-buck.........

The annoying thing about my H60 is that I have to use two fans to get under 70C @ 4.25Ghz. The extra fan's noise is a downer. I also noticed that when I run @ 4.0Ghz, my PC never crashes. Have you benchmarked your crossfire yet?
