I previously owned a Sapphire HD 6850 that ran great for about a year and a half. It started to fail and the only way to fix it was to underclock it. I was tired of underclocking and decided to grab an Asus HD 7790. This card went fine for a day, but then I started to get black screens and the "display driver has stopped responding and recovered" error message. This keeps happening whenever I open up a web browser or a game. Purple, black and white horizontal lines go across the screen sometimes and then my monitor no longer senses my card. I really thought it was the new 7790, but now my computer will shut off after the error messages. When I turn it back on, windows says it was a BSOD, even though I see no blue screen (only black from the monitor). Could this be the new card, or is my PSU starting to go?

Specs:
PSU: Rosewill RD500-2SB 500W
CPU: i5-2320 @ 3.00GHz
GPU: Asus Radeon HD 7790
RAM: 12gb DDR3 (idk brand)
I don't know what MoBo I have as I bought this Asus PC and threw some parts into it.

If anybody has any ideas as to what might be happening and what I can do to test I would be very grateful!

If you can, try a different PSU in the computer. If it's not that I would suspect a faulty video card.
