I have a VGA monitor and I found this HDMI output to VGA input adapter, does using this adapter actually increase image quality than using VGA to VGA or is it the same or even worse? Honest answers only, no trolls.

Solution
It will not help quality and depending on the quality of this active device it may actually hurt quality.

If you need VGA, use VGA or DVI-I to VGA(your card will take care of digital to analog conversion)

It shouldn't change a thing. The signal is being converted to analog in both scenarios, meaning you have already lost the pixel color accuracy of the digital signal. Technically there might be a difference (depending on the quality of the adapter), but you wouldn't be able to tell if there was.

but it will look fuzzy as if it were vga to vga. nothing gained.

Never said it would look any different(VGA is what VGA is. analog video). DVI-I to VGA to card is just VGA anyway. same analog delivery method.

You would have to be awful close to the screen to make this look that fuzzy on VGA. Text is just slightly less sharp, but images would be hard to see much difference on quality equipment.

Some people seem to think that VGA looks like composite or something. It is not THAT bad.

I can notice the difference between vga/vga and dvi/dvi. and yes, i do sit close. think everybody does........... unless you are talking televisions??....... which you have to sit 6 or 7 feet from to see well.............. vs a pc monitor which I'm sure everybody sits 18"...... give or take.... from.

When I say close I am talking less than an inch.

I can honestly say that even on my older Syncmaster 245t, VGA does not look nearly that bad next to DVI.

I can get you some close macro shots if you would like.

The biggest factor in analog vs digital here would be cable quality and the DAC on the card and ADC in the screen.

Digital has a huge advantage that it will not degrade in the same manor as analog(to be honest over dvi I have NEVER seen image issues of any kind on any cable. VGA on the other hand with a bad cable is just bad.).

A cheap cable can lead to very fuzzy image as well as ghosting for sure

Not stating a pissing match(who can see what ect) or anything, just saying the difference is not THAT much in the end.
