The Preamble:
Hello all, I'm brand new to these forums, but almost all of research seems to bring me here :) I'm relatively new to the whole PC upgrading scene as I usually have a professional work on my system, but I figured I'd give it a go on my own this time around.

The issue:
I've been doing research trying to find a solution to my RAM issue, but I'm having problems. It seems that most threads concerning RAM selection for my particular motherboard are made by people looking for 8 or 16GB of RAM, not 32GB.

I have a Gigabyte GA-H77-DS3H, Intel i5-3570 processor, NVidia Quadro K2000 GPU, and I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit. I'm mainly using my PC as an audio/video production system; running Cubase 6, Adobe Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop CS6, among other programs. I currently have 8GB of RAM (Crucial CT51264BA1339), but I'd like to max my system out, preferably with 32GB (4x8GB), 1600MHz, CL9...unless you guys say there isn't going to be a massive difference to go down to 1333MHz or CL10.

Looking at the Gigabyte GA-H77-DS3H QVL, the only 8GB sticks of RAM at 1600MHz I see is the Corsair CMZ32GX3M4X1600C10.

I find it hard to believe that there's only one model of 8GB RAM that's recommended for my MB. Is there a risk in getting something that's not listed on the QVL? I've noticed that Kingston doesn't seem to sell 32GB kits. The most I see on their site is 16GB (2x8GB) kits. Would it be ok to buy two 16GB (2x8GB) kits, or is that a no-no?

Is there anything you guys might recommend? My price limit is about $400.

Thanks in advance!

Arturo.....

PS. Sorry for the novella. I'm trying to provide as much info as I can ;)

You mentioned:

"and I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit"

That OS flavour only allows 16GB to be recognized, so you may be out of luck!

See here for all the fun stats!

As for the QVL, that is only a recommendation as its nearly impossible for all the vendors to test each and every module capacity available. My RAM installed is not listed on the QVL however all 32GB of Ram is recognized.

Waow. You're right. That's a total drag. How have I never seen this before? I was under the impression that all 64Bit OS's had the same RAM support.

Thanks for the heads up. I would have made a terrible mistake
