Hi everyone. I'm looking to get into the litecoin mining scene and I've just been ordering my components. Eventually I want the rig to be headless and run a Linux distro from a USB. I thought I had a monitor already for initial BIOS configuration and LInux installation, but it turns out I don't! I was hoping I didn't need to spend anymore, but there's no way around it. I was wondering if anyone knew of any cheap monitors that will get the job done please? If they could potentially double up as gaming monitors as well that would also be awesome. Are there any particular requirements when it comes to monitors?

The motherboard is an Asrock 970 Extreme4 and the CPU is an AMD Sempron 145.

I'd be very grateful for any advice. Thank you very much.

Thanks a lot for the very speedy answers! Yeah ideally I would like a cheap one, I just wasn't sure if there were any particular requirements. I'm based in the UK so I'll probably get it on Amazon if possible. Are there any particular brands that you'd recommend - both for non-gaming and gaming?

Cheap and with a power button should do just fine! Thanks a lot for all the help guys. I found this one on Amazon, by Samsung:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-S20C300BL-inch-DVI-Monitor/dp/B00CDP6NH4/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1389033336&sr=1-2&keywords=led+monitor

It's still a bit pricey for its ultimate need, but it is the cheapest on there and it does have a lot of good reviews. I was just wondering how I would connect it. I understand that I can connect it either via VGA or DVI correct? But the Asrock 970 Extreme4 doesn't have either of these ports. Do I need to buy a DVI/VGA to HDMI connecter then in order to connect to the HDMI port?

However, I've also seen some people connect their displays directly to a graphics card. I'm using three Sapphire Vapor-X 280x, which have both a DVI-D and DVI-I port, so could either of these ports be used? Is there a difference between connecting to motherboard or GPU?

The monitor comes with a "D-Sub Cable". Am I right in saying this can't be used in either of these cases?

I apologise for all of the questions and if any of them may seem silly. I tried Googling, but I'm not really familiar with many of the terms. Thank you so much for any help, much appreciated.

Ok, apologies for the double post. Please ignore my previous post, I've decided to spend a bit extra and get a HD Samsung monitor with an HDMI port. I was just wondering whether I should connect it to the motherboard and use three dummy plugs for each of the three GPUs, or should I connect it to one of the GPUs and just use two dummy plugs instead? Are there any (dis)advantages using one way or another? Thanks.
