Upgraded from 550ti to 760 - PCI-E Pin help

So the 550ti had a 6pin+2 PCI-E connector (i think that is what it is called) an dthe new graphics card i just received has 1x6 pin and 1x8 pin, it also came with a 1x6 and 1x8 pin connectors that split into 2 3 pin white cables, where do i plug those in at?

it did, the card booted to the bios window, and just stayed there.
the window was also ~640x640, not sure if that would help you in answering

I tried updating my BIOS but both the windows 7 64 bit and 32bit wouldnt run on my system becasue of an incompatibility issue. What else could i do?

would you even reccomend running that card on that psu, or should i fork out more money for a upgrade, if so, what psu do you recommend for a i7 3820, gtx 760, gigabyte x79 ud3, 16 gig corsair vengence ram
