The machine a friend of mine has built seemingly randomly locks up, we originally thought it was due to the hard disk randomly disconnecting, however we are currently not sure of the issue, due to windows not keeping sufficient logs, we're also unable to show any form of substantial log (all that is stated are "Computer has shut down unexpectedly" due to cold resets, recently, there was a BSOD that reported the following:

  1. Problem signature:
  2. Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
  3. OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
  4. Locale ID: 1033
  5.
  6. Additional information about the problem:
  7. BCCode: 124
  8. BCP1: 00000000
  9. BCP2: 868786F4
  10. BCP3: 00000000
  11. BCP4: 00000000
  12. OS Version: 6_1_7601
  13. Service Pack: 1_0
  14. Product: 768_1

Furthermore, there was the BSOD message logfile which contained the following snippet:

  1. A fatal hardware error has occurred.
  2.
  3. Component: AMD Northbridge
  4. Error Source: Machine Check Exception
  5. Error Type: 11
  6. Processor ID: 0

I would assume by this recent revelation that the Northbridge chip on the motherboard has failed, however it would be nice to have some extra opinion on the matter as this is a recent build and has some pretty new components.

You seem to be misunderstanding the question, sorry; The machine runs fine however it randomly locks up from anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 day.
