If you've recently bought it then it should still be under warranty. If your saying it's been having problems since than. It's easy, buy a new laptop HDD, If the product code for windows is missing or unreadable you should be able to get it from acer (who bought gateway) or out of the properties of windows if nothing else. Get a copy of the same windows or a re-installation disc from acer. When you have the OS CD, OS Product Key and New HDD remove the one to four screw holding the HDD in on the bottom of the laptop usually opposite of the DVD/CD drive it will slid out. Remove the old drive from it's casing put the new drive in the casing, slid the new drive in, boot from disk/usb stick whatever you have the OS on and reinstall using the old OS Product Key. You may still need to call microsoft in order to validate the key but that is not a big deal just follow the prompts.
