I've been having trouble deciding between getting a second XFX Radeon HD7770 GHz Edition, two Corsair Air Series LED 140mm fans, and an SSD, or just an R9 270X for about the same price. I do a lot of gaming, but I also do a lot of 3D work including Cycles (GPU) rendering. I'm a sucker for aesthetics, so I would love the fans, and I hate loading speeds on an HDD, so the SSD would be awesome. I figure the 270X would be a little more future-proof for gaming and provide more raw power, though. The performance difference is apparently about 10-15 frames higher on BF4 at ultra on the 270X, so it's not massive. What are your guys' opinions?

Hey,

If you game a lot or do a lot of rendering then a better GPU might help. However if you want a general performance boost I would say get a nice SSD as it will speed up day to day tasks by quite a bit. If you have to choose between these options take an SSD or a new GPU. I would advise against getting a second HD7770 as it is an aging card and its better to get a single, more powerful card as it will spare you form having unnecessary driver and game compatibility issues.

If your current case fans are adequate I would hold off on buying LED fans. If you want to add some light to your case then add an LED strip rather than LED fans.

Hope this helps!

With the way my case is, fans are the way to go, and I actually like the look of them a lot more than strips. The 7770 isn't that old, and it performs well enough. You're right on the driver issues, but I do believe most modern games have support for multiple GPU's.

If your performance in games is satisfactory then I would suggest you go with an SSD. Otherwise I would avoid dual GPUs as even supported games can still have issues like microstutter.
