I have a desktop with Corsair 2x2GB DDR3-666 setup and I have recently acquired a single Patriot 1gig DDR3 stick.

I am led to believe that if I add the Patriot 1gig stick to my motherboard; then all of the ram being used by the mobo will be single channel.

Which is better; continue to use 2x2GB DDR3 in a dual-channel setup, or add the 1Gig of ram for any possible additional performance.
