Go with Windows 8 but install a program that gives you back boot-to-the-desktop and a real Start button, like Start8 ($4.99) or ClassicShell.net. Then it looks and behaves like Windows 7 but you have the latest and greatest (more secure). Since Microsoft will drop all support for XP in April, I would not use it. Not to mention it's too freakin' old, slower, and doesn't multi-task as well as Windows 7 or 8.
