Hi all, haven't been able to find a proper answer to this on the net yet so here I am.
I've got a 2010 27inch iMac and have decided to go back to gaming. But I don't have space for 2 monitors on my desk so I'd like to use my mac as a monitor. I read that it should be possible with the 2010 iMac but it's not clear to me as to how? I'm not so tech savvy so I need clear instructions ;)
Many thanks.

does it have a display input? if it does then you can if it doesn't you can't. I'm sure this is in your owners manual...

I think this may work, it is mainly advertised for console gaming use, but should also work with PC as you will just need HDMI and you will be able to turn your iMac into a beautiful monitor. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003LGOWNQ/ref=as_li_q...
or this one. http://www.belkin.com/us/p/P-F2CD007/

I've checked this out but it limits the resolution to 1280x720 which is half of what I'd want... if I understood it correctly.

@Jgriff it looks like that cable works the wrong way round?

Thanks for your replies so far!

Yes this is true, but this is the only way it will work unless you want to take apart the iMac and use some technical skills to customize it into a standalone monitor, there is no other way I'm afraid from reading forums and people's experiences. That converter is priced so high that you would be better off getting an Acer 1080p monitor for about $100.

Indeed, and I would... if my desk was bigger. Right now it's as wide as my Mac lol :D
