Hey guys, I got an XFX R9 280X
I'm just wondering what PSU I should get, mine is a Coolermaster extreme2 525 watt, it's not even 80+ certified and I've been told I should get a new one, I didn't get a new one when I bought my GPU and I'm having trouble getting 120 fps on low/off graphics on Battlefield 4.

Does it matter what brand psu I get? Or is it just the watt and if it's 80+ certified that matters, I was thinking about getting this one -
Is that ok? will it handle my gpu fine? Will it help with my graphics, cause I shoud be able to play on high,
I got 8gb ram, i7 3770k quad core at 3.5gz, 3.9gz, 2 hard drives and yeah, that should help?

Thankyou in advance! :)

Been out shopping...Sigh...Sales!
The temps look more than OK to me so no problems there.
The XFX DD coolers work but they can be noisy under heavy load if it's bothering you try setting a modified fan profile in Afterburner: http://downloads.guru3d.com/MSI-AfterBurner-1.5-final-download-2471.html There's no solid law about the top temperature which is safe but most agree 80-85C is about as hot as you would normally want to go.
That type of cooler also responds well to good intake fans, so if the case can use twin front fans it will almost certainly help to install a pair of good quality units there to feed plenty of cool air to the card fans.
From the Info I've been able to find the Coolermaster PSU you have only has a single 6+2 pin...
Eh it SHOULD be ok on paper, but you may have troubles under heavy gaming load. My suggestion would be a minimum of 500 watt 80+ bronze rated psu.

So basically try it with your psu, Also With the new higher requirements of this game, 120fps under low is a pretty high goal for that card. Now, if gameplay is smooth at the settings (meaning no choppiness) then your psu is likely just fine. You would notice choppiness or system crashes if your psu were not enough for your system

I really want to play on higher graphics, I bought my card to have a better experience and my 650 ti was doing better at this point hahahaha, welll I was thinking of getting this card tomorrow, is it good? http://www.ple.com.au/ViewItem.aspx?InventoryItemID=613850&CategoryID=519

1 question- is there a major difference between bronze, silver and gold ratings on psu's?
and is it normal that i'm playing on low/off (worst graphics) and not being able to achieve 120 fps stable on a 400 dollar gpu? my system is ok and I could smell this really over heating smell today too if you know what I mean, i've never smelt it before. I thought wow, it's really working hard and it's so loud.
I'm playing on ultra now, and I got 65-80 fps on operation locker 64 player server.
But on other maps like Siege of Shanghai I get really low fps, and I'm starting to smell my PC overheating again, what should I do, new psu or keep this one?

The XFX powersupply you linked is a good choice.
Those ratings are for efficiency, they have nothing to do with build quality, the higher the efficiency, the less power is wasted as heat, which helps to keep the PSU quiet and obviously it can have a impact on your power bill, just not a very big one.
Check the system temperatures, CPU: Realtemp, Speedfan or just Google 'CPU temperature monitors'. For the graphics card GPUZ is a super little freebie.
It's common for a new card to smell hot, it usually goes away after a few dozen hours of use but check the temperatures and post back.
Those frame rates are pretty normal, multiplayer is particularly hard on the system so you might try a few tweaks to speed things up, turning AA off and dropping down a notch from ultra being the first two.

Should I buy a new psu though? or is my coolermaster extreme 2 525 good enough? and here are my temperatures
GPU clock- 1000
Memory clock- 1500
GPU temp- 53-54 degrees celcius.
CPU temperature average- 58.2 degrees celcius.
(that was yesterday)

My gpu has same temp now and cpu is at 38 degrees celcius

Check the temps under idle-just the desktop, nothing running 10 minuets after a reboot, and under load-10 mins of BF4 should do nicely ;).
Exactly which graphics card is installed-you may be able to set a custom fan profile in Afterburner to quieten things down without allowing the card to get excessively hot.

From the Info I've been able to find the Coolermaster PSU you have only has a single 6+2 pin PCI-E lead, if it does and you're running the 6 pin lead off a molex/PCI-E 'Y' converter it will be a very good idea to get that 650W XFX unit you linked earlier, Molex leads are not designed to feed high draw graphics cards, and it's not unknown for them to burn out over time, besides, the extra power will come in handy when you start to overclock the i7. ;)
