HDMI for a 144 Hertz monitor ?

Correct me if I'm wrong because I understand that Dislpayport is capable of supporting 144Hz, but it should pass audio through as well. All my DP cables support audio and video. If you do not have a Dislplayport connection on your monitor, (The ASUS does). Or as an alternative connect to your DVI and plug your speakers/headphones to your soundcard/on board audio on your PC. (DVI will not transmit audio.) (HDMI will not support 144Hz.) (DisplayPort supports 144Hz and audio

I mean. Do I need to get angeled peaces to connect the DisplayPort(/ HDMI)?
Because I heard that bending the cable is bet for the cable itself.
