Dell 1708FP Display short circuits

Hi guys -
I have a Dell 1708fp monitor.
Whenever I touch the VGA cable it seems to cut the display out. This monitor is used by the way.
All help appreciated please.

well if the cord is bad replace the cord or the plug end may have a bad pin replace it .. if you need to have a shop do it if and the monitor is nice it would be less coet then a new one [??]

I finally found the problem! I'm not sure if you ment the power cord or VGA cable, but I found out that my power cord wasn't plugged in properely.
