Hi everybody

recently I purchased the writer TSST corp SH-224DB.
Problem: giving lot of errors in burning CD's DVD's
under Imgburn, it gives error during write phase, 'Program memory area update Failure'

tried nero and other , some error existed in burning on all software's.
upgraded firmware from sb00 to sb01

now errors are not same but lot of medium errors. tried several types of media but could not get one complete successful burn yet.
Please note that same media worked on my previous drive. previous drive model TS-H653 got defective suddenly

I can't waste much media on experiments. work is pending for which I bought the drive.

please suggest is my new drive defective? should be replaced?

secondly need to ask :

does room temperature has an effect on DVD burning quality?
for example when temp is low around 2 , 3 degree C , a DVD burned will it track out in hot summer days? thermal expansion!

As you've already tried different brands of media with no success, I would certainly say the burner seems to be defective.
I fitted an LG model to my PC over two years ago. I use it every week and have had no problems with it using Nero Burning ROM 12. It's still providing sterling service with Sony or Verbatim media.

I doubt ambient temperature has any effect on burning quality or reliability, it's not something I've ever seen a reference to, but you're welcome to research it on Google of course.
