I have just installed my GPU and runs drivers and in my device manager it said "ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM V1.1)" in my Display Adapter even though I installed a HD 7870. Please help.

Did you make sure the 6-pins + 6-pins are plugged in the GPU?

PS : This sound silly but did you make sure you plugged the monitor on you're GPU and not the onboard GPU on the mobo?

In device management is there a device that is not recognized? it will have a ! and a yellow triangle around it. It's most likely just unknown to the system what it is. IF it is there install the driver manually through there. If not let us know so we can keep working on it.

EDIT: be sure to fully update windows then look in device manager. Windows should download the Generic driver for it.

Another option :
try going in the BIOS and change the "Primary Video Adapter" to "PCI-E x16" or PCI-E (x16 preferred)
