Hello all,

I have a question regarding my PC performance when playing certain games. My old PC build seemed to have no problem playing the latest games (Far cry 3 for example), but my new build struggles to reach the same performance (poor performance).

With my old build, I was able to play Far cry 3 at ultra settings, drawing a decent FPS which looked very smooth during gameplay (no lag). With my new build, I am getting very bad performance (stuttering, very laggy) when playing at medium to high settings (With v-sync off and settings tweaked).

However, I am able to play Black Ops 2 at maximum settings (with vsync off) and I get 100-110 FPS. I can also play Assassin's creed:Black flag at high settings with no issues at all.

I was wondering what the reason for this issue could be, and how I could solve it, if possible. I've tried tweaking BIOS, reinstalling display drivers, etc.

New build overview:
-i5 4440
-Sapphire 2GB HD7790 @ Max OC
- 4GB Mushkin (cheap ram) 1600MHz (stock speed)
-Win7
-500W Cit PSU

Old build overview:
-i7 720 @ 3.8GHz
-HD7770 @ stock clock settings
-8GB Gskill 1600MHz
-Win7
-500PSU

The Haswell CPU has better performance compared to the i7 720, the same with the GPU. I have arleady seen the benchmarks for the components.

If you don't like my post, please don't reply. This is a genuine issue that I have found to be quite peculiar and would love to be solved.

Thank you. Have a great day.

-Anthony

put the old build's 8gb of ram in the new build and see if that helps. If not, that 500W PSU might be struggling to give that max OC gpu enough juice to fully do it's job.

Beyond that, i don't know what could be causing it.

Thanks for the response, I do not have the old rig anymore so I'll have to go and order some more RAM. I accidentally picked your response as a solution, is there a way I can remove it?

I don't think so. But I can still see your responses, so keep posting updates.
