When i was moving my monitor i accidentally bumped the screen into the edge of the desk and literally my heart stopped so i aborted everything i've started doing and wanted to turn it on as fast as possible to check if its damaged. I was relieved when i turned it on and it showed no signs of damage. Though i later noticed that when a part of the screen which was hit has a black background, a white dot can be seen though it isn't visible on any other background and with a dark grey you need to know what you're searching for, otherwise its not noticeable. I want to know what was broken or will it worsen over time? BTW The monitor is an LG W2240

sounds like a small crack in your screen or a broken LED light. Since your monitor is an LCD LED backlit, which is a bunch of little LED's to created the white illumination of your screen. When you bumped the screen is most likely damaged that portion of the screen. I'm not screen expert so I can't say if it will get worst with time. If it doesn't bother you, don't bother.
