I installed Windows 8 on a new SSD alongside 7 (HDD) deleted the 7 partition but the dual boot screen still comes up.

I had Windows 7 on my Seagate Baracuda 7200rpm 2TB drive until last night when my Samsung 840 EVO 240GB arrived and I eagerly installed windows 8 onto the ssd and then wiped the hdd. Aside from a 86mb system reserve it is all partitioned as NTSC but has no OS (only files and storage I've recently put on it). I've tried booting to my disc and clicking repair pc then going to the command prompt and typing in "bootrec.exe /fixmbr" nothing seems to be working.

Try this: Log in on W8. Go to control panel, System, Advanced System Settings. Under StartUp and Recovery, click Settings then uncheck the checkbox next to "Time to display list of operating system"

If that does not work, press the Win key + R. Type "msconfig" in the "Run" prompt. Select the second tab (Boot) in the window that just opened. You should have two entries on this page: Win 8 and 7. Delete the Win7 entry.
