Approximate Purchase Date: this week

Budget Range: $500

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Streaming movie/music library to multiple devices, backup from multiple pc's, internet browsing, possible DVR functionality in the future

Are you buying a monitor: No

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg and Amazon but I'm open to reputable sites

Location: Augusta, Georgia

Parts Preferences: Intel

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: No

Additional Comments: This box will be in my entertainment center so quiet and cool are a priority. Low energy usage is also a plus. It's primary function will be streaming movies and music to multiple locations in the house.

I already own these components:

Case - Nmediapc htpc6000
HHD - 3 x 3tb Western Digital Red NAS

I'm looking for suggestions for everything else. Thanks.

you don't have to go with the cpu cooler cause you could use the stock cooler, but it is to loud for my liking. so i recommended the cooler i use.

Thank you for the suggestions. Another question - What are the pros and cons of a micro atx motherboard vs a full size atx motherboard?

t's mainly a question of size. mATX is smaller. The draw back is that it contains less slots (quite often it's 4 slots, 2 PCI and 1 of each PCI Express).
For a HTPC you can usually get2 tuners, 1 graphics and 1 sound card into a mATX (though some graphic cards are wider and occupy 2 slots). Most people with mATX usually go for onboard sound and/or graphics.
