upgrading from a geforce 9500 but i need something that will work with pcie slot my System Power is only 420w. my price range is below 100 usd and I want to use it for playing world of warcraft mostly and maybe later on other games. os is win7 64 bit

Solution
i guess that chip is ok phenom2 x4 b55 it could be worse but ya its best to have a good branded psu i dont like to go less then 600w but thats me if you go to amd and look at the min,psu requirments for that 7770 card you still may be good if it got the correct power leads that card may use a 6pin pci-e plug ...

but what concerns me is that your specs kinda point to a store bought computer like dell, hp ,gateway, acer or somthing like that and you did say its a costom build?? if it os a store bought computer i would advise you not to invest in upgrade due to there bios may be ''locked'' and may not allow you to do so..

You could get the 7750/ 7770 or one of the Radeon R series. However your Pcu is probably running at 380 - 420w assuming it is not 80 plus bronze or something.

aww thats sweet of him...PCI Express 3.0 will not work it has to be 2.0 or lower -- i thought it was all backward compatable?? i could be wrong... ya stuff gets fazzed out quick nowadays i'll look and see if anything i find will help you out like the 7770, 7750 seems like about were you may need to be..

I just got told by someone else it's not going to matter upgrading the card that it wont fix my issue because my cpu. what's going on is i'll run 30+ fps and randomly drop down to 3fps for no reason and it didnt use to do this so i assumed it was the card about to go out. As much as id love to build a new system I can't afford it right now as i am trying to get the money together to move to the uk. Guess i am pretty SOL for now and stuck dealing with it until after I get to the uk which may not even be until next year.

Sadly you didn't show us your CPU and Motherboard. Either way, PCIe IS backwards compatible, you can put any graphic card (as long as your PSU can power it) and it will work.

However, as pointed, your CPU *could* bottleneck it, which is why people are asking you which one exactly you have. In any case any GPU upgrade will be worth it from that 9500gt, as suggested, I'd pick an HD 7770, which can be found for around $80, it will play WoW just fine.

Hope this is what you were asking for i am a noob at this.
but i know that the hd7770 wont work because it requires power supply of 500w or more and my power supply is only 420w This came from a friend "if you buy any decent 2.0 card you will eat too much power and kill everything"

Processor AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 B55 Processor, 3200 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor

yeah its completely custom built by an ex back in 09 and from the sounds of it i am better off just building a whole new computer vs upgrading any of it but I don't have that kind of money right now since i am saving every penny i can to get me to the uk to marry my fiance /sigh. i have been able to do some more research and found it may not even be an issue on my end seems multiple wow players are having the same issue so i've posted on their forums which I probably should have done to start with but I was going off what one person told me that it was an older video card issue. Long story short I am rather frustrated about spending 3 days looking for a new card only to find out it may not be the problem.

the UK? well it may be better then the good ol USofA wish i could go with ya to see if the grass is greener there...lol well good luck.. sorry this did not work out as you wanted.. and ya if it can wait just do your own costom build with new up to date stuff and it will be better in the end ... p.s try to stay away from them walmart computers. if you realy want a nice and upgradeable rig do it your self.. good luck

''frustrated about spending 3 days looking '' girl i spend weeks and still cant make up my mind on this stuff.. lol

It's pretty nice over there. I spent 4 months there getting to know my fiance irl. interesting match we make anonymous hacker meets anonymous protester/gamer. can't wait to get there so i might actually do some real learning about computers without the fear of 10+ yrs in prison for something as silly as ddos/dos among other things. Thanks for all your help sorry i wasted everyone's time if my head was on straight i would have remembered to check the wow forums before doing anything else.
