Currently I have an alienware x51, and due to it's small size it is very limited on upgrade options. So I'm going to move all of the components into a bigger case. With the exception of the mother board, gpu, and psu. So, I wanted to make sure everything will work together.
Here is what the finished build will have:
CPU: Intel Core i5 4430 (LGA 1150)

One more thing (I'm a noob at building computers) if I used the same hard drive, but a different mother board, would Windows 8.1 carry over?
